An Update on the Michael Ross Case
BBC World Service did an interesting story on the upcoming execution of Michael Ross in Connecticut. It is always fascinating to hear about our capital punishment system from the perspective of folks abroad.
This case is particularly important because he will be the first person executed in New England in 45 years. He, himself, wants to be executed which makes the fight around this case all the more complicated:
In a case that is full of paradoxes, it is the serial killer himself who is hastening his own execution. Some doctors say that Ross is suffering from a narcissistic personality disorder.
Anti-death penalty campaigners - and family members - argue that he cannot therefore choose to die. State and federal hudges have rejected these appeals, and he is due to be given a lethal injection at 0201 on Friday.
