Death Penalty To Be Imposed In Iowa
Though the state abolished the death penalty in 1965, federal charges allow juries the option of the death penalty.
MASON CITY — Dustin Honken will be sentenced to death for murder during a hearing scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, in Cedar Rapids..U.S. District Court Judge Mark Bennett signed an order for the sentencing hearing on Tuesday. The sentencing comes a year after Honken was convicted in Iowa’s first death penalty trial in 40 years.
