Death Sentences on the Decline
The New York Times published an article in today's paper summarizing a report to be released tomorrow by the Death Penalty Information Center, which discusses the recent decline in death sentences. The report will be available on DPIC's website on September 20.
Many legal experts say that the possibility of executing innocent people has become the central focus of the death penalty debate in recent years.
Juries imposed far fewer death sentences in each of the last four years than they did on average over the previous decade, according to a new report.
