Editorials
I think it's great when an editorial about the death penalty gets published. This editorial says a lot of the stuff we already know (considering its referring to Illinois' moratorium), but it's good to see someone else is thinking the same thing.
Referring to Governor George Ryan, the author writes,
Ryan had his flaws, certainly.
BUT HE WAS right on the death penalty issue. He faced the issue squarely and was forced to honestly conclude that he could not be a party to such a flawed process.
People in other states have gradually come to the same realization, and the numbers are going in the right direction because of it.
