New Mexico DP Bill passes in House of Representatives
A bill to abolish the death penalty in New Mexico cleared the state House of Representatives on Monday and heads to the state Senate, where it could face a harder time.Five Republicans joined 33 Democrats to pass the measure 38 to 31. Opponents included 23 Republicans and eight Democrats.
The vote marked the first time a death-penalty repeal has passed either chamber of the Legislature.

In the Holy Bible, in which this country was founded, it says in Exodus 20:13 " Thou shalt not kill." That is one of the "Ten Commandments" that this country was so proud of and now is trying to get rid of. If we continue to "kill" in the name of the law, we are no better than the killers that killed. You are just proving the killers point, "It is ok to kill." We have to show by example and killing them just because they killed doesn't make us right. We do NOT live by the law of the Old Testament but by Grace in the New Testament. In Romans 12:19 (latter part) it says, "Vengence is mine, I will repay, saith the Lord."
If continue to do what we are doing we will be no better than the killers themselves. I don't have all the answers but I do know that we have to do something different Arizona has the right idea with the working the prisoners and letting them know that prison is for hard time. We as a nation have made it easy for prisoners. They have tv, stores, air conditioners and the such. They eat better than we do who actually work for a living. Let them know what it is like to punished. Put them to work, hard labor. If they had wanted it easy they should have made sure that they didn't get into trouble to lose the comforts of life. There are no winners in this whole mess. Dead men and women feel no pain, no remorse, no sorrow for what they have done. They don't feel ANYTHING. Let them live with what they have done. Put them where they have to work out their punishment. Let them pay the people back the funeral expenses and the such. I know that that won't bring back their loved ones but neither will death. Bring back the chain gang and clean up America while you are at it. Work NEVER hurt anyone and apparently these people have just way to much time on their hands, so make them work, pay them and then take it from them and send it to the people they have wronged. That is one way to make them pay, literally, full price, no breaks. That costs them, not the tax payers. Why should the loved ones have to pay for a funeral, they didn't do anything. Make the person repsonsible pay for it.
Thank you for your time to let me air this out. I truly feel killing is NOT the answer. something.
