DPIC (Death Penalty Information Center) has a new service where you can receive a weekly email with current death penalty news. You just have to send an email from the address where you wish to receive the updates to "update@deathpenaltyinfo.org" with the Subject Header "SUBSCRIBE."

It was through this service that I discovered that the California Senate passed a resolution establishing a panel of experts who will investigate the state's criminal justice system and present a series of recommendations to the legislature and governor based on their findings. This just happened this past week!

I also found out about Death Penalty Focus, a San Francisco-based organization dedicated to the abolition of capital punishment through grassroots organizing, research, and the dissemination of information about the death penalty and its alternatives.
