Pacadena Editorial
As DPIC rightly points out, there have been a growing number of editorials addressing the Death Penalty. DPIC noted three just in the last week and I've posted some on this blog as well.
Here is another:
From Pacadena, California where Scott Peterson's trial has created a media frenzy, John Swanson has this to say:
...as things now stand in California the chances are almost nil that Peterson will be executed if he is sentenced to death.
There are over 600 men and women awaiting execution in our state. Less than a dozen such people have been executed in the past 30 years. The appeals process takes about 20 years. A third to half of these men and women have already had their sentences confirmed after appeal, but their executions are not on the horizon as of now.
It's refreshing to hear these words considering the twisted excitement many people seem to have as they await the verdict.

The whole Scott Peterson cast scares me. People are just a little too excited for him to get the death penalty and the whole thing just makes me feel weird.
