Stanley "Tookie" Williams Loses Death Penalty Appeals
The Supreme Court turned down the appeal of Tookie Williams, a California death row inmate. State prosecutors can now return to the trial court and seek an execution date says NBC 11:
Williams lost his previous appeals in the state and federal court systems, most recently in the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco in February. Williams, who is black, claims his 1981 trial in Los Angeles Superior Court was unfair because blacks were systematically excluded from the jury.

I feel so sad right now I cant understand why this world is the way it is. I am an young afrocuban woman who is raising a young black male and I wouldnt wish gang life on any human male or female but its to late now they are killing our babies I seen a 10 yr old girl lose her young life because young men were shotting at each other over something stupid. I hate the fack that our young black men are on this path that some one stared long time a go we have lost so many black young and old and I hold on to my 14 yr old son with an iron grip I will step up and deal with any one who wants to drag my son in some gang I will give my life so my afrocuban son can make a positive impact on this planet we as a people have it hard enough the last thing we need is to kill our selves will gangs. On the other hand I can relate to Mr Williams I taught my youngest brother some thing I wish I never did now he's lost and all I can do is to try to talk him out of what I've taught him long ago. But the damage is done because of what I taught him many young woman lives are changed and I taught him the game now i wish I could take it all back. There is some thing I would love to say to Mr Stanley Tookie Williams, God loves you and I for give you these are the words of a mother that have seen many fall and will give her life for the son that she has my gole is to teach him that not having a father in your life is no excuse. I will lift him up I will show him the way any the new game that I teach him is about The Lord Jesus Christ my son is God's son to Jesus is his father. So dont feel sad for our youth every one alive has a road to chose the wide road that every one walks or the thin road were there are few but at the end of this road is Jesus so Mr Williams a friend to the world is an enemy of the Lord , and a friend of the Lords is an enemy to this world , If you have given your self to god then dont worry about leaving this world there is peace and love waiting for you my brother peace and the true love of God. Thank You for teaching me how to be a strong Black Woman who will die to save her son from gangs.

I am a Conservative Republican. And while I believe that Williams should pay for his crimes, I also believe that society would benefit from keeping Stanley alive (in prison) and allowing him to continue his life changing work.
I have even gone as far as attempting to get conservatives to sign onto a letter asking Governor Schwarzenegger to commute Stanley’s death sentence to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

as a gang member down south now. there is a calm is the gangs now somewhat. if tookie dies a lot of gangs are going to be outraged. the crip gangs are going to be devils and there are going to be more blood pouring. so, please let there be peace and don't let other's die because we can't save one life just one time in America

Why execute a good guy...let him spread his good works even if its in very small room to punish him...
I dont get it...why kill him and he will one day die...isnt over 20years on death row a worse punishmnent already.
He may have killed which is very very bad and regretable but the guy has changed!! I think what the American justice system ought to be encouraging is that it can accomodate reformers but the inceration of the guy is enough evidence that it does encourage criminal activity.

This is nothing new. Just another case of racism and ignorance towards the African American community in which this country(USA) is responsible for in the first place. This country is to thank for the ills of the neighborhoods these youths struggle to survive in. My heart goes out to you tookie!
one luv!

How can you put this man to death in good conscience? True he self-admittely had some, to put it lightly, violent tendencies. Our kids are in trouble!! Who better to understand and talk these kids out of destructive lifestyles than someone who has helped paved the way? Let him re-pave the way out, the path of righteousness. I'm not saying let him out of prision, unless he's wrongfully accused, but let him continue to help our kids. Just because you don't live in the "hood" doesn't mean YOUR kids won't be affected by that lifestyle. SAVE TOOKIE! SAVE OUR KIDS!

wait williams is saying there wasnt any blacks on the jury because of dicrimation but obviously if there were blacks on the jury, they WOULD NOT convict a fellow black man. if the jury was all white, then that wasnt fair and williams didnt stand a chance. i just thought that last line was dumb.

i think stanley williams should be freed,he has changed so many peoples lifes he has done his time and to many people he is loved and respected, mr bush has killed many men both killers and honest hard working men look at the war in iraq should he be put on death row or will he learn by his mistakes like "tookie" has NO I DON'T THINK HE WILL HE WILL CARRY ON DOING WORSE THAN STANLEY EVER HAS DONE AFTER 8 DAYS HE WILL BE KILLED BUT BEING ON DEATH ROW IS A DEATH SENTENCE ON ITS OWN BUT HE WILL LIVE ON IN OUR HEARTS AND SOUL .

An innocent man in being put to death, not because of murder but because he started a gang that is now out of control. How can you blame a man for a crime that evidence doesn't support. Stanley has lived in a prison following somebody elses rules for almost more than two decades, he cause no problems, when the fact of the matter is he wasnt to help todays youth and tomorrows future. Men who went to jail for rape 10 years ago are now out on the street looking for their next victim. While California has a man who is trying to correct a problem that he realizes he might have been the cause of. What good is it doin to kill Stanley, when he is doing more good than our own President. If anybody should be put on death row it is President Bush, for all our young men who die each day, for a point that he wants to prove. What is America coming to when we kill men and women who are helping out future? Everyone knows that African American men are the highest rate of men either behind bars or dead on the street. We have a man who is trying to help and prevent that, but instead of helping, an innocent man is being put to death.
