Study Finds Innocence Issue Leads to Lower Death Penalty Support
Makes sense to me.
Three-quarters of Americans believe that an innocent person has been executed within the last five years and that conviction is resulting in lower levels of support for the death penalty, according to a study published in the February issue of Criminology & Public Policy.Criminology & Public Policy is an academic journal published by the American Society of Criminology.

I think the death penalty makes a country more civilized in that people must reign in their aggression or face similar consequences. Otherwise, why don't we just join in with the other animals in nature? Why is the focus on the 1000 criminal killers that have been executed rather than on the thousands of murdered victims? Let's review capital punishment's raison d'etre:
1. It's a catharsis for victim's families.
2. It's a murder deterrant. Yes, it's true. Please read University of North Carolina's professor Stephen Layson's study titled, "Homicide and Deterrance" using Canadian time series data. If the penalty has deterred over 100,000 murders in the past century then it clearly outweighs the cost of 1000 murderers. I think modern forensics can exclude getting any alleged innocents getting executed going forward.
3. It teaches us that there are consequences for our actions. I don't see this type of responsibility coming from liberal anti-death penalty politics. Therefore, antis can be considered less civilized.

There was this white man who blamed a rape and murder on this black man. him and his wife together did the crime, Turns out the seaman came back to the father after 17 years this black man sat on death row two weeks before his excution it comes out by the fight of a overworked defense attorny no help from the prosecutor of course he fought the dna test the whole time......Take this one on for size.Ok after DNA testing was introduced the number people released is just terrifing. Some still waiting years for there test to be even takin and some are on Death Row,but will probaly be killed before it is even afforded.
1.The mob had hundreds if not thousands of people killed and most of the time they can rat thier way out of it or buy there way out...When the guy who kills his wife for cheating or fear of paying child support forever and legitamatly stressed out then losing it.
2.Cops killed and still kill plenty of people of color and instead of the Policemen getting the Death penalty. They fight with the surviving family over punative damages..
3.If the death Penalty was always applied to everyone instead of the some I'd support it.
4.Can you just Imagine how many white people blame their muders on blacks (susan Smith). Not to mention how many blacks were killed when they was a white uprising like in Oklahoma where all black biz was burned to the ground .etc.etc. Since it hasn't been evenly applied and never will hell no i wont support the death penalty.
5.NOW when the poor defense has just as much money and power at his finger tips as the limitless Proscuter it will have way be fair..Which is a great start...JIM
