The List Begins
I've been wanting to list other social-issue documentaries that deal with the criminal justice system. Although this information is already on our site, it's such a great resource that I figured it doesn't hurt to let it resurface.
The Reentry National Media Outreach Campaign has selected 17 documentaries as part of their effort to support the work of community and faith-based organizations. Based on the belief that diverse media play an essential role in motivating and mobilizing community action, they've chosen these documentaries, which all incorporate the theme of reentry into family and community by individuals who were formerly incarcerated. Here is the list of all selected documentaries to be used in their Campaign:
A Hard Straight
A Justice That Heals
Aimee's Crossing
Borderline
Deadline
Every Child Is Born a Poet
Getting Out
Girl Trouble
God and the Inner City
Manhood & Violence: Fatal Peril
Manhood & Violence: Sons of Violence
Prison Lullabies
Red Hook Justice
Road to Return
The Chance
What I Want My Words to Do to You
When the Bough Breaks

The cool thing about this program is that Deadline (and the other films listed) will be shown to people in reentry programs all over the country. We have been wanting to reach this community for a while but had no real access or resources to do so.
