Vermont Selects Jury for Death Penalty Trial
BURLINGTON, Vt. --A jury of seven men and five women has been selected for the Vermont's first death penalty trial in almost half century.It took five weeks to complete the jury selection on Thursday in the trial of Donald Fell, 24, of Rutland, who is accused of kidnapping a Clarendon woman in November 2000, taking her to New York state and beating her to death.
The trial is expected to start June 20 and last about three weeks. The jury was sent home until the trial starts...The case has been a high profile one for the U.S. Justice Department because Sessions declared the federal death penalty unconstitutional during pretrial motions. He was later overruled by the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
