What's Going on in Ohio?
What do you think about adding the death penalty to the current moral values debate?
The surprise House vote last week to require a study of Ohio's death penalty system reflected both a national debate over moral values as well as old-fashioned legislative maneuvering.
After the bill sat idle for four years, conservative Republican Rep. Tom Brinkman (who opposes abortion and capital punishment) gathered enough support last week for it to pass.
Ohio has executed a total of 12 people since 1976 and currently there are 210 Death Row inmates.
The title of the artice is: PERSPECTIVE: Call for death penalty study follows values debate, increase in executions. I'm confused. Why "increase in executions"?
