Yes, Florida has executed a total of 60 people since 1976.
What is my governor's position on the death penalty?
Governor Jeb Bush (R) strongly favors capital punishment. He does not believe that abolishing the death penalty would promote justice or save innocent lives. The Governor also believes we should look not only to the issues surrounding the defendant, but also to the surviving victims and to the effect the murder has on our community as a whole when deciding whether the death penalty is an appropriate punishment.
How many people are on Death Row in my state?
There are 385 prisonors on Death Row in Florida. Of the 385 Death Row prisoners, 134 are black, 215 are white, 34 are Latino, 1 is an Asian and 1 is Native American. Out of the 385 prisonors on Death Row, two of them are women.
